My name is Victoria Adesanya, I had the privilege of participating in a free digital training program sponsored by the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) in collaboration with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) in the Employability Support Project.

Before the training, I was already designing with my smartphone, but I wanted to upgrade my skills and learn how to design using a PC. When I saw the training flyer in our church group, I immediately filled out the registration form. I informed my then-fiance now my husband about the opportunity and he encouraged me to go for it. I also want to appreciate him for his support. So, after a successful screening process, I began the two-month training at AI Multimedia Academy. Throughout this period, our sponsors provided us with free training and a weekly stipend of 5,000 NGN.

Over the course of two months, I honed my graphic design skills (I was introduced to some design software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Coreldraw and Figma) and, upon completion of the training, I secured an internship placement as a graphic designer and video editor at Twenty20 Audiovisual Company.

During this time, I received payments from the organization and my sponsors, USADF, LSETF, and AI Multimedia Academy provided a monthly stipend of 18,000 NGN for three months in addition to the salary I earned from Twenty20 Audiovisual. At the end of the internship, I was retained as a permanent staff member.

I want to thank all the AI Multimedia team members. I also appreciate our graphic tutor Mr Emmanuel. God bless the director, Mr Ademola Ayodeji Akitoye for this opportunity.

Takeaway: The key lesson from my journey is to never hesitate when opportunities for personal development arise. Always seize the chance to invest in yourself and upgrade your skills. Self-investment is invaluable, and this is my success story – Mrs Victoria Adesanya
